The meeting was convened by President John Gannon at 9:45 AM.
The Board accepted the minutes of August 29, 2010, prepared by Syed Hyder. The minutes were amended to show that the total membership is 132.
Budget: Ted Roshinski reported that as of September 30, 2010, the budget has $471.00 for the remainder of the year. The budget has sufficient dollars for the anticipated expenditures.
A motion was passed to accept the budget report as presented.
Membership: Ted Roshinski reported that Jim Wilson returned to the club. In addition, the newsletter provided a membership renewal form and Sid Cantrell and Syed Hyder responded immediately.
Greens Committee: Harry Emerzian reported on the maintenance work on the 12th fairway. The very dry conditions caused large cracks in the ground and required the maintenance workers to relocate the sprinklers.
In addition, the two fairway bunkers on the 12th are now filled with soil. The process will save the cost of sand in the future.
The greens were aerated in late September. However, hot weather was not anticipated. The hot weather heated the sand which burned the grass. Water did not help. Hence, the greens were left with large areas without grass.
Harry was asked if he knew why there are mounds around some of the putting holes on the greens. Someone suggested that the maintenance person does not have a large tool which can be laid around a hole and tamped. Another Board Member stated that he witnessed a maintenance worker tamping down the area around a newly installed hole.
Harry stated that the course is now watered with reclaimed water. He also commented about the return of the coots.
Website: Syed Hyder Syed shared a graph he developed. The graph showed that the website is visited dramatically more often on Mondays than any other day of the week. Syed nor members could offer any explanations for the high interests on Mondays. The website covers many essential topics/information and is an integral function of our club.
Tee time performance index: LeeTsai stated that the performance index is calculated whenever there are seventy or more players in a tournament. Jim Clark added that during September and October, an average of 67 golfers participated.
Lee clarified that if a group has one member of the foursome playing and no substitutes, the group is dinged a point. This procedure was developed years ago and maintained. In addition, a golfer who expects to miss a tournament, must call by Friday of the preceding Monday’s tournament and cancel his participation. The caller should ask the respondent at the Pro Shop to record the date the call was made.
Newsletter: Jim Chiolchios was absent. Ted Roshinski congratulated Jim for pursuing and publishing the newsletter on the internet. The financial savings is very substantial.
