1. Goose and Coot Management Update

Jack gave an update about the CEQA process for filling in the Golf Course ponds on the back nine to help in the reduction of nuisance bird issues and creation of Burrowing Owl foraging area at Shoreline Golf Links. The California Environmental Quality Act is a stature that requires state and local agencies to identify the significant environmental impacts of their actions and to void or mitigate those impacts, if feasible. The process

Allows for public input and should be completed this fall. Jack also stated that on Wednesday morning, 7/21 a survey team started work at the golf course, beginning at Ponds 1, 2, and 3 (17th, 11th and 10th fairways).  The more complicated work will be left for last, Pond 4 which is located on the front 9 and may not occur until the end of the month. The crew will have small trucks and will access the course from the perimeter roads and will NOT be driving onto the golf course. Other consultants on the team: a Biologist, Environmental consultant and Golf course designer.

2. Jack mentioned that the City of Mountain View Community Services staff will be hosting a meeting on Tuesday, August 3, 6pm at Michaels for the Board Members of the Shoreline Golf Links, Women’s, Senior and Shoreline Clubs. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an overview of golf course issues and financials and to solicit possible cost savings and/ or revenue-enhancing ideas. The meeting will last about an hour to an hour and a half.

3. Superintendent’s Update

Pathway repairs on holes 13 and 14 will be repaired in early to mid August. The maintenance crew has completed filling in 46 low areas on the course as well as verticutting the greens. A new matt on the hole 5 bridge will be installed this month when time permits.

4. Questions from Committee Members

Jim passed out list of recommendations that he put together as to what can be done by the City to save cost or enhance revenue. Jim also mentioned that the cart paths are very rough. Jack told the Committee that there is a program in place to repair paths twice a year and that due to the land fill the paths are very difficult to maintain.
