1. Goose and Coot Management Update

Jack mentioned that the City will continue the process of goose population stabilization on a regional basis in the spring. The City is in the process of setting up a meeting of local Cities and agencies to develop a plan to have as many agencies as possible oil goose eggs this spring.

2. Tee Leveling and Pathway Repairs

Jack updated the committee that 12 red, white and blue, 17 white and blue and 15 blue and white tees have been started to be leveled. Jack also mentioned that pathways on 3, 12 and 18 were repaired September 29 and 30.

4. Superintendent’s Update

Steve mentioned that aeration on tees, greens and half the fairways were completed. The remaining fairways will be completed in the next few weeks.

Steve told the committee that 2.75 inches of rain were received and that two diseases have appeared on the greens. The greens were sprayed and light topdressing of sand will be applied to smooth them out from the aeration. Staff has also started to install fencing around key greens and tee areas to minimize the damage caused by the coots.

5. Questions from Committee Members

Jennie Madlem asked if the restrooms at 7 and 13 could be better maintained.  Jack told the committee that both were scheduled to be power washed on Friday, 10/23 and will be power washed once a month. Jennie also asked if the drop area on number 4 could be better maintained due to a number of women’s club players not able to carry the water. Steve said he would look into ways to keep it better defined and with turf.

The next Advisory Greens Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. in the Golf Course Conference Room.
