Shoreline Golf Links Advisory Greens Committee

Minutes of Meeting held on SEPTEMBER 23, 2008

 

In Attendance Jim Handzel, Harry Emerzian, Steve Crane, Victor Calvo, Francie Green, Jack Smith

 

Absent: John Deem,

 

1.     Twilight

 

Jack mentioned that the twilight start time will change on 10/01 to 2pm and Super Twilight will start at 4pm.

 

   2. Goose and Coot Management Update

 

Jack mentioned that the City has purchased the Goose Poop Remover and that Losee’s Gosse Control will continue to work at Shoreline. Jack gave an update on the wildlife management efforts at Shoreline and passed out a memo describing those efforts.

As requested the notice to golfers that will be posted at the golf course as been attached to this email.

 

   3. Mountain View City Championships

 

    Jack reminded the committee that the City Championships are this weekend              

Saturday, September 27, & Sunday, September 28. There are a total of 66 participants in the men’s divisions. The women’s division had to be canceled due to a lack of signups.

 

4.     Shoreline at Mountain View 25th Anniversary

 

Jack discussed the 25th Anniversary of Shoreline at Mountain View to be held Sunday, September 28 from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.

 

5.     Friday Rounds

 

Jack informed the committee that a decision regarding Friday Rounds has not been made and that the information gathered comparing rounds played on Fridays, revenue for Fridays from the range, retail and rentals and all paid rounds over the last couple of years has not shown that lowering rates on Friday’s has increased Friday revenues.

 

 

6. Superintendent’s Update

 

Steve mentioned that Aerification of greens will take place September 30 and October 1. The bridge over the lake to the first tee will be worked on Friday, October 5 and golfers will need to be detoured to the first tee. The bridge at hole number 4 will be installed the first week of November. The maintenance staff will be doing drainage work this fall getting ready for the winter rains.

 

 

7. Questions from Committee Members

Vic complimented the City Council, City Manager and City staff for recognizing the problem with the coots and geese and taking action to alleviate the situation. Francie followed up by saying she agrees with Vic.

 

 

 

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. in the Golf Course Conference Room.
