Shoreline Golf Links Advisory Greens Committee

Minutes of Meeting held on APRIL 21, 2009

 

In Attendance: Mona Nakamura, Harry Emerzian, Victor Calvo, Steve Crane, Jack Smith

 

Absent: John Deem, Gary Toepper

 

 

1. Goose and Coot Management Update

 

Jack gave an update regarding goose egg addling efforts that are going well. The coots have been leaving and should be gone by the end of April.

 

2. Superintendent’s Update

 

      Maintenance staff has moved into the maintenance building and is slowly getting 

      settled.

 

Fencing will be coming down on all holes the week of 4/27.

A landfill cap repair project will be done on the 18th fairway starting on May 18th and reopening on May 29th.  The hole will play as a 135 yard par three for the two week timeframe.  Once the area is completed it will play as a par 4 with drop zones around the renovated area until the sod and seeded areas become playable.

The bridge on number 4 will be installed on Monday, April 27 starting at 12 noon. Players will be routed around the hole to number 5. Green fees will be reduced $5.00 after 12noon. Play will start on the back nine on Tuesday, 4/28 to give the contractor a few extra hours to complete the installation.

 

3. Year to date net rounds.

 

Jack gave a brief report about the paid rounds for the fiscal year ending with the third quarter.

 

4. Demo Day was held Saturday, April 18.

 

Jack mentioned that this year’s sales were down approximately 18% from last year.

 

5. Questions from Committee Members

 

Harry Emerzian asked about the 13th green. He was wondering if it was settling and Steve confirmed that it is. Harry also wanted to know if maintenance volunteers have been told about the new arrangements to get tools. Steve mentioned that he was planning to talk to each volunteer in person. Volunteers will need to contact staff to access the tool storage area.

 

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. in the Golf     Course Conference Room.
